The weather was not good with temperatures barely above freezing but Tom toughed it out bringing home first place and the fast time of the meet, congratulations Tom. The weather did slow all the models down somewhat but the best pilots and most reliable equipment always rise to the top.

Of course combat matches can go either direction but the best flyers always seem to rise to the top.

  • 10/05/07 QA of Q500 engines has been completed  Engines are very nice and all engines exhibit exceptional quality control.  These first production engines are much nicer than the prototypes used in testing. Flight test were perfect with speed equal or better than the prototype engines

  • 9/10/07 Factory delivery of the first Q500 engines is scheduled to leave next week.  Q500 engines should be shipping to customers before the end of September. Let's hope there is time to get them into a couple races this month! This is very close to the original ship date, lets hope all arrives quickly.

  • 9/10/07 Profi F2A engines Qualify 1-2-3 at the US F2A Speed Team Trials  Again this is great news for the Profi factory. Carl Dodge, Chris Montagino, Bill Hughes all used Profi F2A 2.5cc tuned pipe engines to win positions on the USA 2008 World Championship team, the US is looking stronger all the time!

  • 9/03/07 Profi F2D and Michael Wilcox make the US F2D Worlds Team for 2008  Michael tells me that there were 40 pilots competing at the team trials.  US team is made up of Andy Mears, Richard Stubblefield and Michael Wilcox.  This is just about as strong a F2D team as you will find anywhere! Congratulations Michael on your first outing with the Profi engines.

  • 8/31/07 Profi F2D Combat engines in action at the US Team Trials  Watch Michael Wilcox, past World Champion, fly the latest version.  Michael's testing was very good and he was very optimistic. Photos page will have pictures of this engine soon.

  • 8/16/07 Q500 is still on mid September Delivery Schedule  New Profi designed mufflers for the Q500 have been completed, other work is in progress.  Also a few F2D engines are en-route for control line combat. Be sure to list your name on the backlog.

  • 8/1/07  Excellent Response from all over the Globe   Many people have asked to be placed on the backlog list for the first delivery of Q500 engines.  Q40 version testing should take place this fall and winter. Test flying continues with Nitro and FAI fuel. Some prop combinations work very well with FAI fuel.

  • 7/10/07  Profi 2.5cc engines win top three in F2A at the US 2007 Nationals today!  In a really closely fought battle Chris Montagino topped Bill Hughes and Jim Booker for 1st Place at the Nationals.  Only .08 seconds between first and third place! Now that is close.  However we won't talk about the rather slow speeds achieved due primarily to our not knowing how to compensate for the Muncie, Indiana weather. It was great fun, Dave Cotton ran an extremely good competition and there were no breaks in the action from the start to the final flight. Thanks also to all the helpers and the AMA for a great show.

  • 7/2/07  Profi Q500 pricing is now established  As an introductory incentive all orders placed on the backlog list prior to the first delivery of engines will be $385.00.  All subsequent orders will be at $425.00.  Parts prices are still to be determined.  Current expected delivery of the first engines is expected to be mid September. Please feel free to put your name on this list.  So far testing performance has been exceptional.

  • 6/15/07  Put your name on the backlog list!  People interested in the new Q500 engine should put their name on the backlog list.  No money required, no firm commitment until the engine is ready to ship. Requests for the engines from the first run are adding up.

  • 6/12/07  Added Photos and Drawing Images on Photo page  I have added a number of images of the Q500, the Q40 and the 049.  Check the photo page.  The drawing Images were done in a Cad view file format and I will be happy to email them to anyone wanting to be able to use all the features from those viewers, just let me know - info@flycontrolline.com

  • 6/10/07  Wow! Profi Q500 Turns 1:05 First Race Time  Two Q500 motors were entered in a North West Q500 428 race this weekend.  Heat times ranged from 1:05 to 1:09. This is the fastest time ever for the region. And 4 seconds faster than the fastest competitor. Profi almost lapped the entire field of entries. And the worst part...it was leaving a smoke trail the entire race, pilots didn't want to run it to lean! Thanks for the tests Tom Strom and Tony Huber!

  • 6/5/07  Q500 Profi to race on 6/9 and 6/10 in Washington state. More Profi Testing has been completed this past weekend with excellent results. Let's see if we can get some heat times for an accurate comparison. Watch for results next week.

  • 5/10/07  Profi 6.5 cc (.40cu in) Quickee 500 First production samples have now been flown.  After various prototype engines were tested minor changes were made and the latest results are very positive.  The engine is very fast, very smooth, and very easy to run.  It has some interesting features borrowed from Profi world record holding F2A speed engines and promises to be a great challenger for the new Nelson engines. See the new Q500 page (tab above) for more pictures. Delivery date is currently late summer.  Send an email to the address above and put your name on the backlog list, no money required until delivery.

  • 3/16/07  New F2A engines for 2007 have been shipped.  The photos are very interesting! This is a radical departure from the previous Profi designs. Initial quantities are limited but more engines are being completed at this time.

  • 3/15/07  Profi .8cc and 1.0cc are in Process.  New Sleeve material and other minor changes are producing more power and performance overall.  1cc should be excellent for International class FF as well.

  • 2/13/06  Email to info@flycontrolline.com was down for a few days last week.  All is working now.

  • 2/13/06  Regarding F2A ready to fly models.  Ok, here is the deal.  I need to know if we can get orders for at least 10 models together.  This is a real world class model built in Russia.  400gram weight, composite material, much technology.  It appears the cost is going to be $1000.00.  If you want to be serious about the F2A class you need this kind of model.  Most of us have heard the rumors of the very fast Profi engine times coming from Russia.  Well this is the model.  Please email me if you are interested.  I need to get an idea if we can do this.  So far every project I have gotten together with you all has been a success.  Can we do it again?  Send me a note with your thoughts.

  • 2/12/06  Jim is 2nd Place at Efest!!  Yikes, control line guy flying electric RC indoor Combat!!  It is true, the Efest at Champaign Illinois was a blast this weekend.  200 pilots showed up!  Steve Kalif of AMA called my name as Ted Nowlin after my "stage" name that appears on the full page Model Airplane News ad for JR radios with my ugly mug being front and center!  We have to do something in the winter and what else would a control line combat guy do?  None of the girly 3D flop around stuff!  RC combat indoor is a "last man standing" event.  I will post my combination on a new page for combat stuff in the next few days.  Watch for it!  If you want electric power RC equipment just let me know, I have everything!

  • 2/11/06  Turbo Glow Plugs available now.  In support of the new Turbo heads for the .049 I have Turbo glow plugs in two heat ranges available now.  Medium is $4.00 and the Extra Hot is $5.00.  Quantity discounts are available.

  • 2/10/06  New PROPS for the .049.  I have added a couple pictures on the photo page of some props for the .049 engines.  The brown prop is available now at $4.00 each.  Discounts for quantity purchase are available.  This prop works very well on the Cyclon and Fora engines as well.  Also when setup properly it really works on the VAMkII .049.  Just trim to get 31,000+ and fly!

  • 1/30/06  New F2A Ready to Fly Models available again.  As many of you know the Profi RTF model has not been available for a few months now.  I have been working to bring a new Premium top end model to the rest of us in the world.  It looks like we might get one soon.  Lighter weight, fastest ever but count on the price being somewhat stiffer.  Again, please list your order on my backlog as I need it for leverage in this case!

  • 1/30/06  Profi F2D 2.5cc engines coming soon.  Profi has advised me that the very latest and fastest ever F2D combat 2.5cc engines will be finished shortly.  Anyone wanting combat engines please get me an order, no money but I need your names on my backlog.  These are also exceptional engines in Free Flight  and AMA Team Race events.

  • 1/29/06  More .049 Profi engines in process.  Profi is building more .049 engines as well as a new .061 (1cc) for the free flight guys.  Please enter your orders to get on the backlog.  Initial quantities are limited.

  • 1/28/06  Turbo glow plugs now available.  Turbo plugs to go with the new turbo head available for the .049 are now available.  Two heat ranges.  Medium @ $5.00 each and extra hot @ $6.00 each.  There are many heat ranges available at the local hobby shop so you have plenty of choices to get the right setup as opposed to the single heat range Nelson style plugs.  No performance numbers for the Turbo head yet.

  • 12/24/05 Not Quite Christmas, but I hope everyone is having a great Christmas Eve.  I have Turbo plug heads available for the Profi .049 and I have plugs as well.  Lots more tuning opportunities with the Turbo plug head.  The Nelson plug head is still standard with the engine.

  • 12/23/05  Merry Christmas to everyone everywhere!!  Thanks for all of the support with the new .049 from Profi.  The engine is running great and people are figuring out the propeller and fuel combinations.  Mine is turning 35,000 on the ground in the Combat model.  Weather in mid America is not conducive to test flying!  Most F2A engine parts are available right now.  Rods and Piston/Sleeves are available.  I will post a parts list for the .049 as soon as I get parts!  Best thing to do if you want an .049 is let me get your name on my backlog, no money required till they are ready to ship

  • 12/22/05  Profi .049 next deliveries should be end January or first February.  I have not found the time to get the web site up to speed but have been shipping all the .049 engines I can get my hands on.  All F2A engines are sold at this time, next delivery is undetermined right now.  Also hoping for new F2D engines but no news yet.

  • 10/26/05  Hello to the new web address!!  Beginning today we are up on the web with a registered domain name,  www.flycontrolline.com  and also a new email address, info@flycontrolline.com It looks like the whole site is working so now it is time for more content.  Watch for the new Profi F2D 2.5cc combat engines to arrive shortly, also more .049 engines are on the way.  And other things are now in the works!

  • 10/18/05  New Photos posted.  Check the new photos on the home page.  All the parts are shown but look at the crankshaft!  Yes that came from this engine!  It does not look like a crank from an 049.  Also note the venturi is an insert rather than part of the casting as on the original photos.  Very nice.  Piston and sleeve are beautiful.  Please anyone having flown the engine please send info and I will post!

  • 10/15/05  All back orders for the Profi 049 have been shipped.  There are now a few engines available for sale.  Engine tests have been very positive.  On previous 31,000 rpm prop (from my VAMkII) rpm has exceeded 36,000 using 30% nitro!  35,380 rpm using 15%.  Prop is 1/2A combat 4.4x2.75.  This is very encouraging to say the least.  This engine does not like to be propped below 30K, it falls off rapidly.  I think the speed of 1/2A combat just moved up 10mph.

  • 9/29/05  Good News!  New Profi 049 engines arrived.  These are very interesting, 10mm crankshaft, aluminum sleeve, very nice fit.   Profi workmanship is evident throughout all components.  Engines will be shipping immediately to all backorders.  Please anyone not wanting to take their backorder let me know as there are other people wanting engines.  No test runs yet but I will get one mounted and post info as soon as possible.

  • 7/25/2005   Good News!  At least part of this site is working.  Latest news is the pending release of the new Profi 049.  This promises to be a great product for Profi.  The pictures of the first version are on the home page.  I will add more photos when available as well as updating the information I have.  Right now the price has not been finalized but should be competitive with the Fora and Cyclon.  Reservations are being taken on a first come first served basis.  Quantities to be made are very limited but a few are still open for the first delivery.  Get your name on the list, no need for money until engines are available.  First version will work for 1/2A Combat, profile proto, 1/2A Racing and 1/2A Free Flight, all AMA categories which require the .049 engine size.  A speed tuned pipe version will come about sometime in the future!

  • 7/24/2005  I will continue to add content to the current site and hope it will assist many of you with your endeavors.  Watch this Newsletter for breaking news as it comes in!  New products will be introduced as they are available.
