The new Profi 6.5cc Q500 engine for AMA class 428 is a very exciting. The development of this new engine was in process for over two years.  Check out the design features below.

This engine brings the proven features of true world record holding Profi competition engines to Q500 racing.

Pricing for the Q500 engine has been impacted by the recent currency exchange rates but we are going try and maintain the original price for the near future.  Current price at this time is $385.00

See Profi Q500 Parts for the current engine spare parts list.

Some of the features:

  • AAC piston and sleeve.  Profi has the best piston material in the world and that is what makes the big difference in all
    Profi engines.

  • Absolutely Perfect piston to cylinder fit. Very tight while cold, perfect at running temperature.

  • Integral rear bearing with the crankshaft forming the inner race of the rear bearing.  Borrowed from Profi FAI competition speed engines where this is a standard feature but never seen on an American built racing engine. The result is a truly free bottom end. A side benefit is the very high quality steel used to make the crankshaft.

  • Stiffer Crankshaft resulting from the larger diameter at the junction with the crank disk and forming the inner race of the rear bearing. The dead free crankshaft rotation adds a small improvement in rpm compared to any regular ball bearing engine.

  • Balanced crankshaft, no external balance. This engine runs so smooth you will not believe it. 18.5mm crankshaft.

  • Crankshaft has 12mm gas passage with an exclusive asymmetrical configuration resulting in improved torque band at operating rpm.

  • Flow smoothed and angled crankshaft inlet port, for improved intake performance.

  • Domed piston. Slight RPM improvements result from the domed piston again adding to overall performance.

  • Front Bearing Retainer.  The front bearing is held in place by a screw-in bearing retainer, one more item borrowed from FAI competition engines. And again the stability of the crankshaft results in a small rpm improvement.

Test flying is indicating that the Profi engine uses just about the same propeller combination as the current top engines. The test engines have shown great flexibility in propeller choice.
